London, 16 November 2022 (TDI): The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo visited the King Charles III of England on Tuesday, 15 November 2022.
The President of Ghana is on a private visit to the United Kingdom (UK). He met with the Royal family at Windsor Castle where both leaders had a conversation about issues related to joint interest.
This was confirmed after an official tweet of the Royal family came saying ” This afternoon, The King welcomed the President of Ghana to Windsor Castle for an Audience.”
This has shown the level of diplomatic ties Ghana has with the UK. President Akufo Addo is said to be the third African President to visit the King. The other two are the President of Gabon, Ali Bongo, and Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria.
The President was able to relay his intentions and aims for further collaboration in Ghana and UK relations. His agenda was to ensure that the relationship between Ghana and other commonwealth countries is held in high esteem.
The President and some other African country leaders also attended the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth to show their solidarity with the people of the UK.
Ghana-UK relations
Ghana as a member of the Commonwealth and a former British Empire member has continued to have a strong relationship with the government of the UK. Both countries have traded in all terms related to the economic progress of each country.
In conclusion, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s visit to the King has been described by many as a good move for further support. The visit is to ensure that the President shows his diplomatic character to King Charles III.
