New York, (TDI): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to global peace and stability, in a speech delivered at the general debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Addressing the international community in New York, Wang emphasized that peace is essential in tackling the world’s pressing conflicts and crises, urging for a departure from traditional power politics.
He presented a comprehensive view of China’s approach to international relations under the title, “Building on Past Achievements and Forging Ahead Together Toward a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.”
He highlighted the relevance of initiatives put forth by Chinese President Xi Jinping, including the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, which offer solutions aimed at enhancing global governance and addressing shared challenges.
“We have never been bystanders in global affairs. Rather, we have become increasingly active contributors to global governance,” Wang stated, affirming China’s growing role on the world stage.

These initiatives, he argued, embody Chinese wisdom in navigating complex global issues and contribute to fostering a cooperative and inclusive world order.
Analysts noted that Wang’s speech underscored China’s stance against bloc confrontation and zero-sum thinking, instead advocating for comprehensive and sustainable security frameworks to achieve lasting peace.
The address reiterated China’s emphasis on inclusive development and respect for cultural diversity, positioning Beijing as a proponent of equitable international relations.

Meanwhile, Wang also took the opportunity to criticize certain countries’ hegemonic tendencies and unilateral actions, particularly sanctions and blockades, which he said disrupt the international economic order.
China remains opposed to such practices, Wang asserted, and will continue to advocate for a fairer, more just international system.
Wang Calls for Dialogue
Addressing the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, Palestine, and Afghanistan, Wang called for dialogue and negotiation as the only viable solutions to end hostilities.
“Peace is the most precious thing in our world today. You may wonder if there is a path leading to peace. In fact, peace is the path,” Wang said.
He stressed the need for de-escalation and an immediate end to provocations by all parties involved in the Ukraine conflict.
