China, Netherlands Pledge Stronger Economic Ties

The Hague (TDI): Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with Dutch leaders in The Hague to jointly promote an open world economy, and strengthen cooperation in various fields including green development.

Ding held separate meetings with Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Prime Minister Dick Schoof, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Climate and Green Growth Sophie Hermans during his two-day visit.

Ding said that under the strategic guidance of the two countries’ leaders, the open and pragmatic partnership for comprehensive collaboration between China and the Netherlands has been steadily enhanced with fruitful partnerships in different fields, bringing benefits to the two countries and two peoples.

China is willing to further strengthen communication with the Netherlands to boost mutual trust, push for greater development of bilateral ties and help the two nations accelerate the realization of their respective development goals, he said.

Emphasizing that both China and the Netherlands are beneficiaries and supporters of an open world economy, Ding stated Beijing is committed to high-quality development through high-level opening-up, welcoming Dutch firms to expand cooperation with China.

He expressed his optimism that the Dutch side will continue to provide a fair, equitable and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises, protect common interests and maintain a stable and unimpeded international industrial and supply chains.

He hoped that the Netherlands would realize the two sides’ complementary advantages, shared opportunities and common prosperity.

Joint Action on Global Challenges

King Willem-Alexander said that the Dutch side cherished mutual trust and friendship and wanted to deepen collaboration with China to jointly push for continuous progress in the Netherlands-China ties.

In the face of the current geopolitical conflicts, nations should communicate frankly, seek consensus, work together and jointly address international challenges, the King added.

Schoof said the Dutch side admires China’s development achievements and regards Beijing as a stable partner, adding that the Netherlands wanted to strengthen dialogue with China, increase understanding and mutual trust, and expand practical cooperation in different fields such as water conservancy, green development, and medical and health care.

Hermans congratulated Beijing on its achievements in environmental protection and green development, and appreciated China’s contributions to the implementation of the Paris Accord.

The Dutch side is looking forward to promoting collaboration with China in areas like clean energy, green transition, circular economy, and climate adaptation, Hermans said.
