Cairo (TDI): The China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, situated near Egypt’s strategic Suez Canal, is being hailed as a shining example of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation.
The zone, developed by China’s TEDA corporation, is making significant contributions to Egypt’s industrial development, according to representatives of prominent Egyptian political parties.
Representatives from parties such as Homat Al Watan, the Free Egyptians Party, Al-Wafd Party, the Egyptian Socialist Party, and the Justice Party recently visited the zone in Ain Sokhna.
The delegation toured Chinese-operated factories, including the home appliance manufacturer Midea and fiberglass giant Jushi.
Eslam EI-Shamy, Midea Egypt’s human resources manager, highlighted the factory’s role in local manufacturing, producing 120,000 dishwashers and 500,000 air fryers annually, with 70% of components made in Egypt, Xinhua reported.
Similarly, Jushi Egypt, operational for 12 years, boasts an annual production capacity of 360,000 tonnes of fiberglass, with 95% of the output exported globally.

“What we saw today in TEDA—the scale of operations, the advanced technology, and the robust collaboration—represents a dream realized through our partnership with China,” said Amr Suleiman, spokesperson of the Homat Al Watan Party.
Established in 2008, the zone spans 7.34 square kilometers and has attracted 180 investment companies, generating over $3 billion in investments and creating nearly 9,000 direct and 80,000 indirect job opportunities.
Cao Hui, executive director of Egypt-TEDA SEZone Development Company, emphasized the zone’s pivotal role in aligning the BRI with Egypt Vision 2030, saying it exemplifies sustainable development and strategic partnership.
