Santo Domingo, 15 September 2021 (TDI): Chinese Embassy to the Dominican Republic donated one hundred thousand dollars to the Agriculture Department of Dominica in order to fight African swine fever.
The event was held on 14 September 2021, at the Chinese Embassy Dominican Republic where the ambassador handed over the aid to Dominica through the Agriculture Department. The Dominican Department of Agriculture tweeted, “We have just signed an agreement with the @ChinaEmbajadaRD to strengthen the African Swine Fever Control and Eradication Program (FPA).”

The Chinese ambassador to the Dominican Republic indicated that the aid would help continue the steps being taken to prevent African swine fever and strengthen relations between the two countries. The Embassy of China to the Dominican Republic tweeted, “The Chinese Ambassador @EmbZhangRun and the Minister @limbercruzl signed the delivery certificate. They attended the event @Fernan2Duran @bettygeronimo @aracena_felix and representatives of the Chinese community and Chinese companies accredited in the country.”

The Dominican side appreciated the efforts of China in helping the republic in these trying times. The outbreak of swine fever was reported in July and till now mass destruction has been reported.
China has also supported the Dominica Republic in its fight against pandemics, and China has been praised on the global level for pandemic alleviation measures.
