Beijing, 5 December 2022 (TDI): The Chinese Foreign Ministry denied claims made by representatives of the United States (US) & the European Union (EU) on Monday. Both parties said that China was engaged in “economic coercion.”

At the 4th high-level meeting of the US-EU Dialogue on China in Washington DC, Wendy Sherman, the US Deputy Secretary of State & Stefano Sannino, the Secretary-General of the EU External Action Service, issued a statement.

The statement by the two partners claimed that China was involved in the economic coercion of international economies.

In this regard, on Monday’s scheduled press briefing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mao Ning responded to the charges imposed by the US and EU.

She made clear that China strongly opposes both the interference in China’s domestic affairs by the US and the EU as well as the denigration of the country.

Furthermore, Mao emphasized that the Asian giant had always worked to promote world harmony, advance global development, and uphold international law.

According to the Spokesperson, the US openly pressures other nations not to use the equipment manufactured by Chinese companies.

Introducing the CHIPS and Science Act, joining forces with its allies to pressurize China economically, and enforcing the decoupling and disruption of supply and industrial chains.

According to her, the US Inflation Reduction Act has forced European businesses to move their production facilities here. Mao declared, “This is true economic coercion.”

Moreover, she pointed out that the US and the EU should accept their obligation to contribute to global peace and development.

In addition, cooperation between the two countries should not target any third party or make China a point of dispute.
