China denounces appointment of US special coordinator for Tibet

Beijing, 22 December 2021 (TDI): China has rejected the appointment made by the United States of a special coordinator for Tibet.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao in the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference stated that the US should not worry about Tibet. He said that China does not recognize the American appointed special coordinator on the Tibet issue.

Zhao highlighted that the people of Tibet are living a happy life. The world especially the US should not worry about their lives nor the US should interfere in internal affairs. He said that there is no room for the criticism of the US on Tibet.

The US should protect human rights at its home

He stressed that the US should care about the racial discrimination in its home rather than interfering in the internal affairs of the other states in the name of human rights and democracy. The US should answer the international community about the genocide of the Native Americans, he added. The US should protect human rights in its home rather than protecting them outside.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the US politicians should focus on the protection of human rights at home except legislating bills for interference in other states. He highlighted that they have failed to protect their home and want to protect them abroad, in Tibet.

Zhao pointed out that rather than appointing a Special Coordinator for Tibetian Issues, the US should appoint a Special Coordinator for the Genocide of Native Americans. It should appoint a Special Coordinator for the human rights affairs of US minorities, he added.

Note that the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken on 20 December stated that Uzra Zeya, the US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues will work to promote the human rights of Tibet. China rejected this statement of the US State Secretary. It stated that the US should stop interfering in the internal affairs of other states in the name of human rights.
