China appreciates Pakistan’s support for CPEC

Beijing, 18 November 2021 (TDI): Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian emphasized China-Pakistan cooperation on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

China is committed to making a global shared community based on common interests. For this purpose, China has launched its multi-billion development project throughout the world known as the Belt and the Road Initiative (BRI).

China and Pakistan are immediate friends. They shared a history of mutual respect and cooperation. They share a relationship of iron-clad friends. China has initiated a multi-billion project in Pakistan known as CPEC. CPEC is also part of the BRI project.

China has launched infrastructure and developmental projects in Pakistan under the CPEC project. It is working to connect Pakistani port Gwadar with the Chinese region Xijiang. China has been building roads, railways, and industries in this project.

Chinese Deputy Director of the Foreign Ministry appreciated Pakistan’s support for the CPEC project. He also acknowledged great Pakistani input in the project in his press conference.

Zhao appreciated Pakistan’s role in providing a comfortable environment for investment. He stated that China hopes that Pakistan will continue to provide a better environment to Chinese companies for foreign investment in the country.

CPEC to focus on Agriculture and Industrial development

Zhao said that CPEC has entered the phase of energy development. He emphasized that CPEC will now focus on the department s of Agriculture and Industrial Development. This new phase will help to improve people’s livelihood.

He stated that China is committed to social and economic development in Pakistan. China has also expressed its willingness to cooperate with Pakistan on poverty alleviation. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong met with the Special Assistant to the Pakistani Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation. The two countries will sign an MoU for cooperation on poverty eradication. It will further help to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two states.
