China and Thailand have had good cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, says Thai Deputy PM

The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Health of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul said China and Thailand have had good cooperation on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and the two countries will continue to support each other in this fight.

In an interview with Xinhua, he expressed gratitude for China’s assistance during the pandemic and said the Chinese government has always supported Thailand to the most extent and made lots of contributions to it.

He added that there is a wonderful brotherhood between the Chinese and the Thais. With the good cooperation that the two countries have had with each other, they will continue to help each other at best and this will continue endlessly.

According to data from the Chinese Embassy to Thailand, China has provided Thailand with 19 batches of vaccines as of Saturday. When the first batch arrived, Anutin took the first shot of the Sinovac vaccine as the national immunization program in the country begin. According to him, the Chinese vaccines are the major vaccines that Thailand is using to vaccinate its people and it is expected that by the end of 2021, the vast majority of the people could be vaccinated.

He also shared that despite the current COVID-19 situation, the country plans to open up for tourism soon and hoped that the situation could get better in the next few months and Thailand could welcome tourists from China as ever before. Thailand also plans to open up to fully vaccinated foreign tourists later this year.
