Islamabad, 11 April 2023 (TDI): Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network to provide skills training, including digital and e-commerce skills, crafts and essential business information to the young Pakistani women.
The objective of this partnership, named “Weave for Peace,” is to help rebuild communities and contribute to the sustainable development of Pakistan through the e-commerce skills development of young Pakistani women. The MoU is also meant to promote friendship and enhance people-to-people connectivity between China and Pakistan through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.
The organizations are committed to providing this training to empower young Pakistani women with e-commerce-related business insights and requirements to utilize e-commerce skills to learn and use these skills for community development. Through the experience and expertise of Chinese having strong e-commerce skills, these trainings are designed to offer various opportunities to young Pakistani women to learn and earn.
The partnership aims to offer a comprehensive mechanism for skill training, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic empowerment of the young women of Pakistan. As part of this program, IPDS will conduct skill training for 12 batches of women to improve their financial management and insight, e-commerce, Digi skills, effective use of the various e-commerce-related platforms, run businesses, and entrepreneurial insights.
This training will empower young women with the necessary skills to effectively manage their finances, leading to financial stability and independence. Moreover, the program will engage with various stakeholders to provide trained women and youth employment opportunities as internees/assistant trainers.
The objective is to create a sustainable cycle of employment opportunities for these individuals, resulting in a long-term impact on the economic landscape of Pakistan. This will magnify the economic uplifting of the communities, as the participants will be able to utilize their newly acquired skills to secure gainful employment and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
The program is designed to provide these individuals with the necessary tools and resources to achieve financial stability and economic prosperity. The collaboration aims to achieve sustainable peace and economic stability in the lives of individuals, with the ultimate aim of “Empowered Community is Peaceful Community.”
The cooperation is expected to positively impact the people of Pakistan, particularly young women, by providing them with valuable skills to help them rebuild their communities and achieve sustainable economic growth.
The MoU signing between CFPD, Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network, and IPDS is a significant step towards promoting friendship between China and Pakistan and enhancing people-to-people connectivity. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the socioeconomic development of Pakistan and help resolve the country’s social and societal challenges.
