Riyadh (TDI): Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has been honoured with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Medal (Excellent Class) in recognition of his role in strengthening ties between Pakistan and the Kingdom.

The award was conferred by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz during a formal meeting held in Riyadh. The honour acknowledges Field Marshal Munir’s “outstanding contributions” toward deepening strategic cooperation and defense collaboration between the two countries.

During the reception, Prince Khalid congratulated Field Marshal Munir on his appointment as Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Forces and conveyed best wishes for his continued success. Both sides reviewed the long-standing Saudi-Pakistani relationship and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in defense, regional security, and matters of mutual interest.

In a statement, the Saudi defense minister said the medal was awarded on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, highlighting Field Marshal Munir’s efforts to advance bilateral relations and military coordination.

The King Abdulaziz Medal is awarded in five categories, Excellent, First, Second, Third and Fourth Class, and is reserved for individuals who have rendered exceptional services to Saudi Arabia or its institutions.
