June 13, 2021 (TDI): The People’s Republic of China has sent 50,000 vaccine doses and over 50,000 syringes to Cape Verde, a country in West Africa. Ulisses Correia e Silva Prime Minister of Cape Verda, while receiving the vaccines and syringes at the Nelson Mandela International Airport expressed his appreciation for China’s support to fulfill the vaccination plan of the 70 percent population of the country towards the end of the year.
Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva, and the Chinese ambassador Du Xiaocong both were present at the airport to receive the Vaccines. Mr, Du Xiaodong, Chinese Ambassador, stated that China stands with Cape Verda at this difficult time of pandemic and will continue to support the country to tackle the pandemic and to resuscitate the economy. He further stated that China is ready to assist the island to acquire doses of vaccines if necessary. Every country, whether small or big, shall have equal access to vaccine doses.
