Phnom Penh, 6 January 2022 (TDI): Cambodia will enhance bilateral cooperation with Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand in the military sector. The development came when the leadership of the respective countries spoke to each other through video conferencing about the bilateral cooperation on Tuesday.
The separate meetings between General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Chief of Defence Force of Singapore Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong, and General Andika Perkasa, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces were held.

The counterparts also found an opportunity to share thoughts over the active support of the Armed forces, especially in Covid-19. Royal Cambodian Armed Forces will chair the 19th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces’ Meeting (ACDFM-19) this year.
The meeting will be held in March in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. During the video conference, the Cambodian Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces General Vong Pisen invited his counterparts to physically join the meeting.
Military Cooperation with Indonesia
Earlier in November last year, Cambodia also fostered bilateral military cooperation with Indonesia. There was a meeting held between General Vong Pisen and outgoing Indonesian Military Attache to the Indonesian Embassy Colonel Inf. I Nyoman Sukasana in November 2021.
The two sides discussed military diplomacy for the shared interests of the two countries. During the meeting, General Pisen highly evaluated the 6 decades of diplomatic ties between the two countries. They had worked in historical and cultural sectors.
Moreover, he also paid gratitude to the Indonesian government for their support for RCAF human resource training on counter-terrorism military. While Colonel Sukasana underlined the accomplishments of his time in Cambodia. He was also thankful to the Cambodian government for supporting his mission. The military of the both sides will be cooperating even under the Covid-19 situation, he added.
