New York, 22 September 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro committed to achieving climate neutrality by the year 2050. The President was addressing the chamber of the United Nations General Assembly, amid the High-Level Week in New York.
During his remarks at the UN General Assembly, President Jair M. Bolsonaro highlighted Brazil’s efforts on environmental preservation and fighting against the climate crisis. He anticipated for the country to achieve climate neutrality by the year 2050, besides emphasizing that Brazil faces great environmental challenges given its continental dimensions.
President Bolsonaro further stated that his country is making commendable efforts to fight climate change, given its human and financial resources’ usage for strengthening the environmental agencies alongside the state’s efforts to eliminate illegal deforestation at large.
