Brasilia, 3 August 2022 (TDI): Brazil is the second-largest exporter of Iron Ore worldwide.  Brazilian iron ore is of superior quality as well, with a 60 percent iron content.

Iron Ore: Importance for Brazil

Brazil outsourced 357.7 million tons of iron ore in 2021 instead of 341.6 million tons the year before. Moreover, above 250 billion dollars were made due to the significant increase in iron ore exports. This resulted from 66 percent in 2020 to 74 percent in 2021.

Furthermore, in the 20th century, Brazil saw much of its infrastructural development geared toward iron ore production and export.

The States of Mato Grosso, Pará, and Minas Gerais has the biggest deposits. Also, Brazil is one of the top 10 steel exporters and has a sizable manufacturing sector.

The world’s biggest iron ore deposits had been discovered in Brazil, where they have been actively mined ever since the 1950s.

Brazil’s government decided to privatize most of its businesses owned by the State in the 1990s. Resultantly, businesses that had initially been owned and operated by the government had been transferred to private companies.

These companies had been involved in iron ore production and supplying and operated solely for profit.

Additionally, iron is the main component of steel; it is a fundamental component of both urban and industrial transportation systems. The material is utilized for anything from railway lines to reinforcing concrete development.

In addition, Iron ore served as the fundamental framework for cities and was employed in construction in Brazil. Steel beams supported bridges and large structures like skyscrapers and airports.

Furthermore, the steel pipes were embedded into concrete to reinforce the railway line’s increased durability. This increases the credibility of the transport mechanisms all across the country.
