WASHINGTON, (TDI): The U.S. State Department has announced that Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday in New York City.

Relations between the U.S. and China have grown tense due to various issues, including U.S. export controls on advanced chip technology, trade tariffs, Taiwan, human rights, and conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM GMT on Friday, coinciding with Wang Yi’s attendance at the United Nations General Assembly session.

This week, Beijing urged Washington to promptly lift additional tariffs on Chinese goods. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have raised concerns about China’s relationship with Moscow since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, while China has expressed anxiety over U.S. support for Taiwan.
