BJP’s Leader Son Ties Knot with Pakistani Woman Online

Islamabad/New Delhi (TDI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Tahseen Shahid’s son, Mohammad Abbas Haider, has tied knot with a Pakistani woman Andleep Zahra in an online nikah ceremony, according to media reports.

Astonishingly, the rare nikah  between a family with strong ideological affiliation to the hardliner BJP and a Pakistani citizen was arranged by the party leader Shahid himself. The bride Zahra is a resident of Lahore in Pakistan.

Due to the ongoing Pak-India political tensions, Haider was unable to secure a visa for visiting Pakistan.

In addition, the bride’s mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi, was hospitalised in critical condition, prompting the families on both sides of the border to opt for an online ceremony.

According to an Indian media report, the online ceremony took place at an imambargah in Uttar Pradesh, with the groom’s family gathering in person while the bride’s family joined them online from Lahore.

Notably, Maulana Mahfoozul Hasan Khan solemnised the nikah, confirming that Islamic law permits online nikah as long as the woman’s consent is obtained and both sides are represented by religious leaders or elders.

BJP Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Brijesh Singh Prishu was among the prominent guests who atended the event in India.
