Nairobi, 7 June 2023 (TDI): The BENELUX delegation has been on tour to different African countries. On June 07, the delegation met Kenyan President Williams Ruto.

In a statement, the Dutch foreign minister, Wopke Hoekstra, said that building on the foundation of shared values, discussions were held between Kenyan President Williams Ruto and the Benelux leadership to explore avenues for further collaboration.

He further stated that Kenya and the Benelux countries have long been aligned on various issues, forging a strong partnership rooted in shared values. Aside from their economic ties, both parties are steadfast in upholding the rule of law, promoting democracy, and safeguarding human rights.

The talks encompassed a wide range of topics, with particular emphasis on Kenya’s actions and concerns regarding regional security. Recognizing Kenya’s significant role in promoting peace in the Horn of Africa, the Benelux countries expressed their commitment to bolster cooperation in this critical area.
