Beijing hosts key Asian leaders

Beijing (TDI): Beijing will host leaders from across Asia for high-level visits to China including the President of Kyrgyzstan, followed by the President of Pakistan, Sultan of Brunei, and Prime Minister of Thailand, starting from 4th to 8th February.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov highlighted the importance of a comprehensive strategic partnership with China for a new era. He added that the two countries have effectively enhanced mutual trust and benefits based on friendly relations and productive cooperation.

Kyrgyz President Japarov started his 4-day official visit on Tuesday and is expected to hold talks with Chinese President, Xi Jinping today.

President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari reached China on Tuesday marking the start of his 5-day official visit during which he is expected to meet with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. 

The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, and Dr Asim.

The visit aims to discuss bilateral relations with a particular focus on trade and economy, counter-terrorism and security collaboration, CPEC and future connectivity initiatives.

Additionally, President Zardari would also attend the inaugural ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Heilongjiang province of China.

Moreover, Pakistan’s foreign ministry commented that the visit reaffirms mutual support on the issues of core interests, and advanced economic and trade cooperation, and highlights the joint commitment to regional peace, development and stability. 

Furthermore, the Sultan of Brunei, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah will pay a state visit to China from the 5th to the 7th of February.

Lastly, the Prime Minister of Thailand will reach on her first official visit to Beijing since taking charge of office in August last year. The year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The visit is expected to enhance bilateral ties, including further expanding the economic cooperation for mutual benefit and restoring the confidence of Chinese tourists travelling to Thailand.
