Beijing, Berlin Reaffirm One-China Policy, Deepen Cooperation

Beijing (TDI): Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with visiting German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Beijing on Monday, emphasizing the importance of deepening bilateral ties between the two nations.

Han highlighted that China and Germany are key economic and trading partners and stressed that mutually beneficial cooperation can yield win-win results.

He expressed China’s willingness to work with Germany to implement the important agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders, enhance communication and dialogue, and elevate the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.

Addressing regional issues, Han noted that the Taiwan question lies at the core of China’s national interests and expressed hope that Germany would adhere to the one-China principle.

He also called on Germany, as a major EU member, to play an active role in supporting the healthy development of China-EU relations.

In response, Wadephul said the new German government places great importance on strengthening ties with China and firmly upholds the one-China policy.

He emphasized that Germany seeks closer high-level exchanges with China, expanded cooperation across multiple sectors, and is committed to being a reliable partner for collaboration.
