Manama, 13 August 2022 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani lauded Bahraini youth’s achievements, on International Youth Day 2022.

The youth of Bahrain has been strengthened under the leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Kingdom of Bahrain marked International Youth Day on August 12. “Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages”, is the theme for the year 2022.

Remarks by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister

Al Zayani expressed his pride in the leadership roles that Bahrain’s youth hold in several national, regional, and international forums.

He underlined the initiatives of the King and the directives of the Prime Minister of Bahrain to promote youth empowerment. He also lauded their efforts to support their role in national development.

Moreover, he applauded the support of the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

Al Zayani mentioned Bahraini initiatives that have enhanced the youth’s role in Bahrain. The initiatives include the PM Fellowship Program, the National Programme to Develop the Youth and Sports Sector “Istijabah”, Hope Fund, and Tamkeen.

He congratulated all Bahraini youth on this day, praising their contributions, namely in the diplomatic field.

Likewise, he stressed the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s keenness to prepare Bahraini young diplomats. The support would be provided through the programs of Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies.

Consequently, he underscored that empowering youth and protecting their civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights are among the main priorities of the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).

World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth made a recommendation to observe  International Youth Day on August 12.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) endorsed this proclamation in 1999. The purpose of International Youth Day is to help raise money for the United Nations Youth Fund.
