Islamabad (TDI): Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industry Vugar Mustafayev called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, both expressed their shared commitment to further strengthen and diversify ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz sharif expressed satisfaction at the current trajectory of bilateral cooperation, in all areas of mutual interest, especially in trade, energy, investment and defense sectors.
Vugar Mustafayev thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality extended by Pakistan to him and his delegation.

Minister Vugar Mustafayev was visiting Pakistan to Co-Chair the 8th Session of Joint Ministerial Commission between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, organized on 23-24 January 2025 in Islamabad.

Earlier, Vugar Mustafayev also called on President Asif Ali Zardari.
Welcoming the visiting minister, the President underlined the historic and deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
He urged the need to increase people-to-people contacts, tourism links, and trade and business ties to promote regional economic collaboration.
He called for finding ways and means to strengthen cultural linkages and further advance people-to-people exchanges.

The president welcomed the operationalization of direct flights between the two countries, expressing the hope that it would further boost people-to-people relations.
It is important to mention here that more than 72,000 Pakistanis visited Azerbaijan last year for business and tourism purposes, marking a 25 percent increase from the previous year’s figure of 55,000 travellers.
The Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan underlined the deep-rooted relations between the two ties, stating that Azerbaijan was keen on further enhancing bilateral collaboration with Pakistan in the fields of energy, business, and culture.
He said that both countries had supported each other through difficult times and expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s political support to Azerbaijan.
