Broadening Ties: Pakistan, Azerbaijan Discuss Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): The 8th Session of the Joint Commission between Pakistan and Azerbaijan commenced on Thursday, with a commitment to advancing cooperation across wide areas of mutual interest.

The inaugural session was attended by representatives from both countries.

The first day of the Joint Commission began with technical-level discussions across different key sectors, including energy, transport, trade and economic collaboration, defense industry, ICT and digital governance.

The session also discussed cooperation in the fields of banking, agriculture, food security, tourism, culture, education, sports and science.

Moreover, the representative explored opportunities for collaboration in health, hydrometeorology, climate change, public service delivery, and social innovations.

Both sides discussed mutual areas of collaboration with considerable progress made in finalizing bilateral protocols.

Sabina Qureshi, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs stressed the significance of the joint commission in fostering stronger relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

It was agreed that finalization of the protocols will lead to tangible results and pave the way for deeper cooperation.

Furthermore, a plenary meeting, co-chaired by Minister for Defence Production, Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister for Defence Industry of Azerbaijan, Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, is scheduled on Friday.

The meeting will focus on further strengthening collaboration in defence, trade, and other strategic sectors.
