Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister met Iraqi delegation

Baku, 7 August 2021 (TDI): On Friday, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, received a Iraqi delegation led by Arkan Shihab, the Minister of Communications.

During the meeting, Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the positive growth of Azerbaijan-Iraq relations. He mentioned the activities of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq. He expressed hope that the agreements reached during the Commission’s second meeting would be implemented. He also lauded the successful meetings he had with Fuad Hussein, Iraq’s Foreign Minister, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum this year. He even expressed gratitude to Iraq for its support in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.

Arkan Shihab, who is in Azerbaijan for the Joint Commission’s second meeting, commended the country for its hospitality and high-level conference organization. He complimented Azerbaijan’s achievements as Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the effort to call a special session on the COVID-19 pandemic. He also ensured that the relations between the two countries will continue to grow in the near future.
