Beijing, 4 September 2023 (TDI): Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has set his sights on strengthening economic ties between Azerbaijan and China as he embarks on a significant visit to China from September 1 to September 4.

The visit aims to bolster collaboration and open new avenues for economic growth.

During this visit, Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has planned a series of high-level meetings with Chinese officials and business leaders. The discussions encompassed a wide range of economic topics, emphasizing the shared interests and potential for bilateral economic cooperation.

One of the key highlights of this visit is the inauguration of the “Azerbaijan Trade House” in Beijing. This initiative aims to facilitate trade and economic exchanges between the two nations, further enhancing their economic partnership.

Azerbaijan and China engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing their collaboration in the realms of investment and trade.

During a meeting between the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and the Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Lin Ji, both sides deliberated on the available opportunities to bolster their bilateral economic ties, amplify cooperation in investment and trade, and advance joint efforts in infrastructure projects.

On September 3, the Trade House of Azerbaijan was inaugurated in Beijing. Established by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, this initiative will play a pivotal role in promoting the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand within the Chinese market, facilitating the expansion of Azerbaijani product exports, and orchestrating related activities in this sphere.

It is worth mentioning that on September 1, Azerbaijan formally inked an agreement about investment cooperation with China.

Moreover, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov addressed the audience during the “Year of Investment in China” conference, which took place as part of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). The focus of the speech was on expanding the special promotion of the service industry.

Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov highlighted the significance of China’s innovation-focused investment opportunities for Azerbaijan.

Additionally, he emphasized that Azerbaijan’s commitment to economic diversification, innovation, and transformation has created an attractive environment for foreign investors.

Azerbaijan’s strategic location at the crossroads of East and West positions it favorably to attract Chinese investors, with a particular emphasis on the services sector.

Minister Jabbarov also underlined the country’s dedication to strengthening regional partnerships, especially in transport and energy, highlighting the significance of projects within Azerbaijan and the potential of the Alat Free Economic Zone.

Furthermore, the Economy Minister pointed out the potential for joint projects that leverage innovations and smart technologies in the reintegration process of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.

Both Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and China’s Minister of Commerce, Wang Ventao, discussed the potential for advancing economic ties between Azerbaijan and China.
