Hanoi, 11 November 2021 (TDI): Australian Foreign Minister, Marise Payne announced a 6.5 million COVID-19 Green Economic Recovery Package for Vietnam on Wednesday. The Minister through her Twitter handle announced this decision while she was in Vietnam to sign the package.

Foreign Minister Marise noted that her country is working with Vietnam to promote COVID19 recovery. She also expressed that Australia and Vietnam are collaborating over climate resilience in the region.

The package will support economic recovery in both Southeast Asian nations. Moreover, Minister Payne met with senior officials of Vietnam. She also met with the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chin on Wednesday.

Meeting with Prime Minister

On the arrival of the Foreign Minister, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin received her at the airport. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Marise Payne on account of the Australian commitment to provide vaccine support to his country.

While the Australian Foreign Minister is on her official visit to engage ASEAN countries. Earlier, she had stayed in Malaysia and Cambodia to discuss matters related to ASEAN centrality in the Indo Pacific. She reached Jakarta today, to meet the Indonesian Foreign Minister.
