ASEAN and ROK Explore Opportunities in Science and Technology

Jakarta, 7 June 2013 (TDI): The ASEAN Secretariat’s Director of Sectoral Development Directorate, Dr. Kanchana Wanichkorn, warmly received the distinguished visit of the Republic of Korea’s Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT at the ASEAN Secretariat today.

The purpose of the meeting was to foster discussions on potential areas of collaboration in the fields of science, technology, and innovation that would bring mutual benefits to both parties.

Recognizing the significance of science and technology in driving economic growth, societal development, and regional integration, Dr. Kanchana Wanichkorn expressed her appreciation for the Republic of Korea’s commitment to advancing these sectors.

She acknowledged the country’s outstanding achievements and highlighted the potential for further cooperation with ASEAN member states.

During the productive discussions, both parties explored various avenues for collaboration. They emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practices in areas such as research and development, emerging technologies, digital transformation, and capacity building.

The meeting also underscored the commitment to sustainable development and addressing common challenges through joint efforts.
