ASEAN and EU officials attended Virtual Meeting

Darussalam, 25 September 2021 (TDI): EU and ASEAN officials hold virtual meetings on the environment and climate change virtually, that meeting was chaired by Brunei Darussalam and co-chaired by the Philippines which played a mediator role in this conference.

The Philippine side is led by Albert A. Magalang, Chief of Climate Change Services or head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

On the other side Astrid Shomaker, Directorate General of Environment was representing the EU. The video conference aimed to discuss the green recovery plan under the COVID-19 situation, as well as the collaboration among states on the European green deal which particularly consists of fifty-five policy packages. 

On the other perspective, this virtual dialogue provides two different studies. Firstly, ASEAN – EU Regional Dialogue Instrument study provides sustainable natural capital to ASEAN  member states.

Secondly, the Strengthening Science and Policy Interface in Climate Change study helps ASEAN states to emit greenhouse gas from the environment.
