Tehran (TDI): Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that any attack on Iran’s islands would provoke a powerful response, saying such aggression would turn the Persian Gulf into a “grave for invaders.”
In a post on X, the speaker said Tehran would not tolerate any violation of its territorial sovereignty and would respond decisively to any military action targeting its islands.
The warning comes as the ongoing war involving Iran, the United States and Israel continues to escalate, raising fears of a wider regional conflict and disrupting global energy markets.
Meanwhile, officials from the administration of Donald Trump have informed lawmakers that the first six days of the war with Iran have already cost the United States at least $11.3 billion, according to media reports.

The estimate, shared during a closed congressional briefing, covers immediate campaign expenses but does not include the broader costs of military deployments and sustained operations. Some US lawmakers believe the White House could seek up to $50 billion in additional funding as the conflict continues.
Despite the rising costs, Trump has publicly suggested that the United States has already achieved significant success in the conflict, although defence officials have cautioned that continued operations will require substantial resources.
Several Gulf Arab countries have condemned Iranian attacks on their territories but are urging restraint and diplomatic solutions to prevent a wider war.
Officials from countries including Bahrain have stressed that while defensive measures such as missile interception systems are necessary, a broader conflict would have severe consequences for the entire region.
According to the Bahrain Defense Force, its air defense systems have intercepted 105 missiles and 176 drones launched toward the kingdom since the start of the conflict.
The conflict has also intensified concerns in global energy markets after Iranian-linked attacks on shipping and energy facilities across the region.
Two fuel tankers were reportedly set ablaze in Iraqi waters following attacks by explosive-laden boats, while projectiles struck several merchant vessels in Gulf waters, maritime security sources said.

Oil prices surged again on Thursday, climbing back above $100 per barrel after earlier touching nearly $120 earlier in the week amid fears of supply disruption.
Iranian military officials have warned that continued instability could push oil prices as high as $200 per barrel, saying global energy markets depend on regional security.
