Antalya, 4 March 2024 (TDI): The highly anticipated Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) 2024 took place from March 1 to 3, 2024. The third edition of the forum concluded successfully. It focused on advancing diplomacy in times of turmoil.
The forum was convened under the auspices of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Türkiye. It was initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye.
The forum brought together an illustrious gathering of over 100 heads of state and government, foreign ministers, representatives of international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and expert circles.
Notable attendees at ADF 2024
Distinguished participants included Murat Nurtleu, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, was also among the attendees.
Jeje Odongo, Ugandan Foreign Minister, marked his presence at the event. Marko Stucin, Slovenian State Secretary, contributed to the discussions as well.
Joanna Wronecka, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, brought her insights to the table. Robert Floyd of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBT) offered his expertise.
Ayse Cihan Sultanoglu, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, was an integral part of the gathering. Salman Sayyid from Leeds University and Cemil Aydin from the University of North Carolina also participated in the proceedings.
Discussion on key issues
Under the overarching theme of “Advancing Diplomacy in Times of Turmoil,” the forum served as a pivotal platform for comprehensive discussions aimed at addressing the pressing challenges facing the global community.
Participants engaged in an extensive dialogue on issues such as ongoing conflicts, terrorism, irregular migration, xenophobia, Islamophobia, risks associated with artificial intelligence, climate change, natural disasters, pandemics, and widening socioeconomic disparities.
Recognizing the imperative for innovative approaches to diplomacy amidst the complex global landscape, participants explored novel strategies beyond traditional frameworks of dialogue.
The forum facilitated interactive sessions, fostering thought-provoking discussions and the exchange of innovative ideas to navigate turbulent times and foster global peace and stability.
