2nd Crimea Platform Summit:
The Crimea Platform is a diplomatic initiative of Ukraine and its President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It serves as an international negotiation platform. Moreover, it tries to reverse the 2014 annexation of the Crimean Peninsula by the Russian Federation.
The protection of human rights, environmental degradation, and the stifling of trade in the Black and Azov Sea region is also discussed at the summit. The inaugural summit of the platform took place on 23 August 2021.
This year, Ukraine hosted the Summit online due to the ongoing Russia-Ukrainian war. The leaders of the G7, representatives of the African continent, and Latin American countries joined the event.
During the event, the participants considered the issues of security and human rights on the peninsula occupied by Russia. Moreover, they discussed the restoration of the Autonomous Republic after liberation.
Remarks by President of Ukraine:
In the opening remarks, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the discussion on how to restore our Crimean peninsula after the expulsion of the Russian invaders.
Moreover, he announced the introduction of economic and legislative directions for the Crimea Platform. President Volodymyr also announced that the Crimea Platform will have a continuation in the form of a parliamentary summit. It will be held in the autumn in Croatia this year.

Remarks by Prime Minister of Canada:
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also addressed the summit on Tuesday. He emphasized that the Ukrainian people have the right to defend themselves and defend their Crimea from the Russian invasion.
Moreover, he affirmed Canada’s support for Ukraine during the challenging times. The Prime Minister assured that Canada will continue sanctions against 1,750 individuals and organizations from Russia and Belarus. Furthermore, he also announced that Canada will provide financial support to strengthen the fight against Russian disinformation.
Remarks by US Secretary of State:
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his remarks emphasized the importance of the Crimea Platform Summit.
He urged the international community to keep raising the costs and pressure on President Putin and his enablers until they leave Ukraine. Moreover, he affirmed that the US still stands on its stance issued in 2014 that Crimea is Ukraine.

The Secretary of State emphasized the importance of maintaining humanitarian, security, and diplomatic support for Ukraine. Consequently, he congratulated all Ukrainians on the upcoming Independence Day.
Remarks by President of Suriname:
The President of Suriname, Chan Santokhi emphasized on the importance of territorial sovereignty. He said that respect for territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders is of immense importance for the security and survival of all states.

Consequently, the President reaffirmed Suriname’s commitment to the UN’s guiding principle for sovereignty. Moreover, he expressed support for Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Additionally, many prominent leaders from around the world also spoke at the event.
