Banjul, 27 April 2024 (TDI): Ambassador of Pakistan to Senegal Saima Maymunah Sayed presented her diplomatic credentials to the Gambian President Adama Barrow in Banjul on Friday.
Ambassador Saima Maymunah Sayed will serve as the non-resident Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of The Gambia.
During the interaction with the Gambian President, she talked about the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Gambia and conveyed good wishes for the upcoming 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The presentation of the diplomatic credentials comes days before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s scheduled travel to Gambia to attend the OIC Summit which will be held on May 4-5, 2024, in the Gambian capital of Banjul.

According to the Foreign Office, the Prime Minister would express Pakistan’s grave concern about genocide in Gaza at the summit. The Prime Minister will advocate for the right of Palestinians to self-determination and highlight the imperative of solidarity.
Additionally, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif will deliberate on Islamophobia, terrorism, and the challenges faced by the world, particularly the Muslim world.
He will also hold bilateral meetings with the participating world leaders who come there to attend the upcoming 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Forthcoming OIC’S Islamic Summit Conference
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold the 15th annual Islamic Summit Conference on May 4-5 in the Gambian capital, Banjul under the slogan “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development.”
Various issues will be addressed, including the Palestinian question, youth, women, family, Islamophobia, climate change, and Muslim minorities in non-member states, among others.
A final communique will include the organization’s positions on the issues submitted to the summit, a resolution on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and the Banjul Declaration.
