Washington DC, 5 April 2023 (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States (US), Masood Khan congratulated newly elected Texas House Member, Salman Bhojani on a telephone call.

The felicitation was for his successful introduction of a landmark resolution in the Texan State Assembly to recognize ‘Pakistan Day of Action at the State Capitol’ on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

Ambassador Khan said that Pakistani-American lawmakers are making both Pakistan and the Pakistani community in the US proud. They are doing this in two ways:

  •  By being dynamic and having good leadership skills.
  •  By serving as a bridge between the US and Pakistan, and by creating strong connections between lawmakers, professionals, experts, and businesses in both countries.

Overall, the Ambassador was complimenting Pakistani Americans for their leadership and for strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and the US, and he was specifically praising Representative Bhojani for his role in recognizing Pakistan Day of Action.

In response, Representative Bhojani thanked Ambassador Khan for his appreciation and reiterated his commitment to continue serving his homeland as well as his motherland in every possible manner.

Moreover, he also briefed Masood Khan about his contributions during flood relief activities in Pakistan after one-third of the country was inundated, affecting over 33 million people.

Also, Salman Bhojani said that the passage of the resolution by the Texan State Assembly was an acknowledgment of the contributions being made by the Pakistani community towards the socio-economic development of Texas, in particular, and the US, in general.

Thus, Ambassador Masood Khan encouraged Representative Bhojani to use his networks to connect professionals and business leaders and promote people-to-people exchanges.

Likewise, he also suggested Salman Bhojani visit Pakistan along with a delegation comprising lawmakers, professionals, and others to promote better understanding and linkages between the two countries.

Ambassador Khan endorsed that the skilled and tech-savvy youth of Pakistan could provide Texas’ economy with a qualitative edge in critical areas such as semiconductors and chip-making, the IT sector, oil and gas, especially renewables, and others, including Fintech.

Furthermore, he also broached with Representative Bhojani the possibility of a sister-state province relationship between Texas and a province in Pakistan.

In a nutshell, Ambassador Masood Khan assured Salman Bhojani of every possible support of the Embassy of Pakistan and its consulates in his mission to serve his community and bring the two countries closer to each other.

Significance of this resolution by Salman Bhojani

For the information, the resolution introduced by Representative Salman Bhojani highlights that Pakistan has one of the world’s youngest populations, with about 63 percent of the nation’s citizens being between the ages of 15 and 33.

Therefore, Texas businesses can utilize the country’s highly skilled young professionals to advance the state’s economy, particularly in the information technology and biotech industries.

The Texan state assembly’s recognition of the contributions made by the Pakistani community towards the socio-economic development of Texas reflects the growing strength of the Pak-US relationship.
