On the 70th anniversary of states’ diplomatic ties, the former Foreign Minister of Germany, Heiko Maas stated, “These diverse ties between Pakistan and Germany bear witness to the solid foundation underpinning our relations.

The Minister added, “Needless to say, challenges lie ahead, whether dealing with the current situation in Afghanistan or the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.”

Moreover, Maas said, “There is one important lesson to be drawn from history, one that is valuable for both Pakistan and Germany: Our two countries can benefit immensely from cordial relations with our neighbours in all fields.”

The German Minister further said, “It is my ardent hope that the next 70 years will continue the success story penned over the last 70.”

Moreover, Pak-German development cooperation started in 1961. Since then, the Government of Germany has pledged 3.8 billion euros in project support. Development cooperation includes supporting renewables and climate protection, sustainable economic policies, businesses and commerce, healthcare, and good governance.

Along with it, the two countries collaborate through Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) for promoting technical education and skills.

Also, Pak-Germany will be mutually organizing a Future Summit in September 2022. The purpose is to provide opportunities to entrepreneurs from all over the world to promote businesses.
