Ottawa, 17 August 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Egypt to Canada, Ahmed Abu Zeid ended his mission to Canada earlier in August. On this occasion, the team of Global Affairs of Canada arranged a farewell luncheon for the Ambassador.
Rob Oliphant, the Parliamentarian Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs also joined other officials for the farewell luncheon. The purpose of the farewell luncheon was to honour the Ambassador’s efforts to strengthen the ties between Egypt and Canada.

The Ambassador of Egypt to Canada thanked the Global Affairs of Canada team for arranging the luncheon for him. Moreover, Ahmed Abu Zeid said that the occasion gave him an excellent opportunity to discuss future partnership opportunities between the two states.

Furthermore, Ahmed Abu Zeid said he was glad to meet his friends in Canada before leaving the place.

The Ambassador of Canada to Egypt, Louis Dumas also took to Twitter to thank the ambassador of Egypt. Dumas wrote that Ambassador Ahmed is a great friend of Canada. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Ambassador in Canada.

The Chief of Protocol of Canada, Stewart Wheeler also thanked Ambassador Zeid for his work in Canada. According to Stewart, although it is a great problem to move from one place to another it brings great memories too. He said that it provides one with an opportunity to make new friends.

Canada-Egypt Relations
Canada and Egypt enjoy good bilateral ties for more than 65 years. Both countries cooperate in a number of domains to advance issues of mutual interest. These include promoting peace, stability, and security in the Middle East and Africa regions.
Moreover, two-way trade between Canada and Egypt has been growing in recent years and in 2021 totalled $1.91 billion. The two countries enjoy good diplomatic relations followed by official visits to both states around the year.
Recently, the Minister of International Development of Canada, Harjit Sajjan visited Egypt. During his visit, he discussed Canada’s partnership with Egypt on issues like food security and climate change.
