Africa, 11 August 2021 (TDI): Africa Civil Registration and Vital Statistics day is celebrated every 10 August. It aims to improve public awareness for such registrations of vital events. It’s a special day for Africans for celebrating their heritage and legal identities, declaration of fundamental human rights.
These rights and civil liberties are found and reinforced by well-functioning civil registration and vital statistics systems that are wide-ranging, permanent, unbroken, necessary, and confidential. The concept of legal identity must be based on a life cycle approach in which the registration of an individual begins with the registration of their birth and closes with the registration of their death.
