Ottawa, 03 Sept 2021 (TDI):  Pakistani High Commissioner in Canada Ameer Khurram Rathore emphasized that the global community must not abandon Afghanistan once again as Afghanistan is going through a humanitarian crisis. The international community has a responsibility towards war-torn Afghanistan and its people.

In back-to-back interviews with Canadian News Network, High Commissioner urged the international community to engage with the Taliban and not repeat the same mistake as was made 25 years ago. In the interviews, High commissioner Rathore highlighted Pakistan’s efforts of safe evacuations for foreign governments, including Canada. He also rejected the false claims that Pakistan had any involvement in the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul and stated that stable Afghanistan is always in Pakistan’s interests and Pakistan is in favor of an all-representative government at Kabul. Moreover, He called on the international community to play a greater role in the preservation of capital and infrastructure in Afghanistan.
