Kabul, 9 October 2023 (TDI): An emergency meeting was held on October 8, in Kabul to provide aid to the victims of the recent severe earthquake in Herat province.
During the meeting, a joint commission was established to organize and provide aid to the victims of the Herat earthquake.
The meeting was held in the Arg Presidential Palace in Kabul, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Al-Hajj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund.
At the meeting, the duty of reaching and organizing aid to the earthquake victims of Herat province was given to the mentioned commission under the chairmanship of the Deputy of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Maulvi Sharafuddin Muslim.
The members of the commission are the representatives of the Ministry of Government for Disaster Management, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior Affairs and Public Health, and representatives of the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
The commission also includes Deputy Minister of State for Incident Management, Maulvi Sahib Abdul Rahman, Commander of Herat Army Corps, Maulvi Sahib Mati, Commander of Herat Police, Haji Sahib Mohammad Yasir, and Deputy Minister of Public Health, Maulvi Sahib Mohammad Ishaq.
The Head of the Afghan Red Crescent in Herat zone, Maulvi Sahib Yar Mohammad, and the Head of Information and Culture in Herat province, Maulvi Sahib Ahmadullah Motaghi were entrusted with the task of traveling to Herat province as soon as possible and providing medical aid and other urgent aid.
For the cause of helping the people of Herat affected by the earthquake, the Prime Minister of IEA, Al-Hajj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund sent one hundred million Afghanis in cash to the people of Herat.
The financial aid will be used by the mentioned commission to help the affected compatriots in necessary and appropriate cases.
Besides that, the Prime Minister of IEA directed the officials of the relevant departments to cooperate comprehensively with the aforementioned commission to deal with the victims of the earthquake.

Furthermore, it was stressed that all the assisting departments to the commission for the cause of supporting the earthquake victims to be regulated properly and the aid to be reached to the victims through the said commission accurately.
Additionally, the Prime Minister of IEA directed that the mentioned commission start their work urgently and share the report of their activities with the high authority of the Ministry.
