Afghan Foreign Minister talks with the Turkish Ambassador to Kabul

Kabul: July 26, 2021- (TDI): Today, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, the Afghan Foreign Minister, met with the Turkish Ambassador to Kabul. They talked about the latest developments in the Afghan peace process as well as the growth of economic ties.

Turkey’s support over the last two decades, particularly its role in the Afghan peace process, was appreciated by the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan. Atmar emphasized the importance of the role of the Islamic world’s ulema in condemning violence and maintaining long-term peace in Afghanistan. He also highlighted the significance of the world’s ulema, particularly the Turkish ulema, to the success of the peace process. Speaking about the trilateral meeting between Afghanistan, Turkey, and Iran on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the Foreign Minister emphasized the significance of increasing the degree of economic cooperation between the two nations.

Turkish Ambassador informed the Foreign Minister that Turkey’s collaboration with Afghanistan will continue in numerous spheres, particularly in safeguarding the country’s peace and stability. He further added that Turkey desires to further grow trade and economic ties with Afghanistan.

Following that, the Afghan Foreign Minister and Turkish Ambassador discussed the hosting of the third meeting of the Afghanistan-Turkey Joint Economic Commission.
