Afghan Foreign Minister met Chargé d’ Affaires of Germany


Kabul – 2 August 2021 (TDI):  Hanif Atmar, Foreign Minister of Afghanistan held a meeting with Jan Hendrik van Thiel, Chargé d’ Affaires of  Germany in Afghanistan on 1 August 2021. Both parties discussed issues and matters pertaining to bilateral ties, changing dynamics in the region, and prospects of the Afghan peace process.

Foreign Minister lauded the efforts of Germany for its unflinching support to Afghan authorities in fending off Afghan Taliban since the turn of the century. Both parties showed concerns about the resurgence of the Taliban accompanied by terror, violence, and extremism. Hanif Amtar noted that the Afghan Government can only counter or control the rampant spread of terrorism in Afghanistan through the help of the Global community especially, Germany. On his part, Chargé d’ Affaires reiterated Germany’s support to Afghanistan and the country’s will to bring peace and prosperity to the country by consolidating Peace Process between the Taliban and the Afghan Government.
