Astana (TDI): President of the Asian Development Bank, Masatsugu Asakawa, is currently in Kazakhstan to celebrate a major milestone – 30 years of partnership between Kazakhstan and ADB.
During his visit, he will also witness the signing of a significant loan agreement for the reconstruction of 208 kilometers of road in central Kazakhstan (the Kyzylorda-Zhezkazgan highway construction project), as ADB has stated.

Since Kazakhstan joined ADB in 1994, the bank has assisted the country with around $7 billion through loans, grants, and technical assistance for both public and private sector development projects and initiatives.
He will hold key talks with officials in Kazakhstan. As a first interaction during his visit to Kazakhstan, Asakawa met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss ongoing cooperation and future initiatives with ADB.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Masatsugu Asakawa on the 30th anniversary of the Kazakhstan-ADB fruitful cooperation.

The ADB President has offered cooperation to Kazakhstan in major projects, aimed at infrastructure modernization, social sphere improvement and investment climate strengthening.
Masatsugu Asakawa arrived in Astana to participate in the 23rd Ministerial Conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program held on Friday (today). But due to his tight schedule in the country, he started meetings with the country’s top officials on the same day.
