Tashkent (TDI): FIFA President Gianni Infantino has lauded Uzbekistan for its successful hosting of the 2024 Futsal World Cup, describing the event as a celebration of the sport.

In a statement, Infantino expressed his gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for their warm hospitality and effective organization, which ensured the tournament’s success on the global stage.

“Thank you to everyone in Uzbekistan – the tournament was a wonderful celebration of our game and once again demonstrated the vital role football plays in bringing people together,” Infantino said.

He also praised the organizers and volunteers for their efforts in delivering a world-class event.

The 2024 Futsal World Cup, held from September 14 to October 6, was hosted across three Uzbek cities: Andijan, Bukhara, and the capital, Tashkent.

The final match took place at the state-of-the-art Humo Arena in Tashkent, where Brazil clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory over their South American rivals Argentina.

Brazil’s triumph secured their sixth Futsal World Cup title, further cementing their dominance in the sport.

International Sporting Events in Uzbekistan

The tournament showcased Uzbekistan’s growing role as a host for international sporting events.

The matches drew large crowds, and the modern infrastructure, particularly at venues like the Humo Arena, received positive reviews from players and officials alike.
