President, PM Mourn Ex-Chinese Vice Premier’s Death

Islamabad (TDI): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed condolences over the passing of former Vice Premier of China Wu Bangguo.

“Wu Bangguo was a sincere friend of Pakistan, and played an impressive role in strengthening Pakistan-China relations,” President Zardari said as quoted by the President’s House.

The President said the entire country was grieving extended on the death of Wu Bangguo. He also extended the sympathies and prayers of the people of Pakistan to the Chinese people, the government, and the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz also expressed grief over the former Chinese vice premier’s death. In his condolatory message posted on X (formerly Twitter), PM Shehbaz said Wu Bangguo was an outstanding leader of the CPC and a true friend of Pakistan.

“He made a profound contribution in strengthening China-Pakistan bilateral cooperation,” Shebaz added, as he extended thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family and the people of China who are coping with a huge loss.

The Prime Minister said Wu Bangguo’s visit to Pakistan in 2006 remains a significant milestone.
