Beijing (TDI): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed optimism over the newly appointed Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations during a phone conversation.

Wang emphasized that mutual cooperation and shared development are essential for both nations, reflecting the fundamental interests of their peoples.

Wang noted that China appreciates the positive signals sent by Japan’s new cabinet, which signify a desire to stabilize and advance China-Japan relations.

He called for both countries to learn from history and eliminate disruptions in their strategic relationship of mutual benefit.

Iwaya affirmed Japan’s readiness to strengthen communication with China at all levels to resolve outstanding issues through dialogue.

He highlighted the vast potential for cooperation across various fields and the new cabinet’s commitment to building a constructive and stable bilateral relationship.
