Biden Hints at Israeli Strikes on Iran’s Oil Facilities

-

WASHINGTON (TDI): United States (US) President Joe Biden has confirmed that the US is holding deliberation with Israel about the possibility of Israeli strikes on Iran’s oil sites.

When asked if he would support such actions, Biden offered an ambiguous response, saying, “We’re discussing that. I think that would be a little… anyway.”

His remarks, made as he left the White House, did not clarify the U.S. stance on whether it would back Israeli military action against Iran’s oil facilities.

The comments come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Following Iran’s large-scale missile attack on Israel earlier this week, the price of benchmark Brent crude oil surged by 5% immediately.

In the attack at least 180 ballistic missiles fired at Israel, and Iranian officials described it as a response to the recent killings of prominent leaders in Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that Iran “will pay a heavy price” for the attack, which caused significant damage, including to Israel’s Negev airbase.

While Biden has previously opposed Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, he did not comment directly on military action against Iran’s oil infrastructure.

When pressed further on whether the U.S. would approve such strikes, Biden reiterated that the U.S. does not “allow” Israeli actions but instead offers “advice” and guidance.
