Uzbekcosmos to Kick off World Space Week

Tashkent (TDI): People in Uzbekistan will witness series of events this week in celebration of World Space Week as the Uzbekcosmos agency has announced to kick off series of the events on Friday.

And the first colorful event in this connection is a special exhibition on space history at the Tashkent City Mall Trade and Entertainment Center, which will open its doors on October 4 and it is considered as a key highlight.

According to an official statement the all these events would take place in different locations in the country and would continue till October 10.

This global event, commemorated in nearly 100 countries, was established by a UN General Assembly resolution in 1999, recognizing the importance of space exploration.

Local media reported that Uzbekcosmos was making preparations for several major events.

In addition to the first event, Uzbekcosmos in collaboration with NASA will host the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 hackathon, on October 5 and 6.

This event will take place at the Turin Polytechnic University  in Tashkent, where over 200 young innovators, organized into approximately 40 teams, will showcase their creative projects.

The Space Research and Technology Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan commonly known as Uzbekcosmos.

It is officially responsible for the development and implementation of a unified state policy and strategic directions in the field of space research and technology.
