Malaysian PM to Visit Bangladesh

Kuala Lumpur, (TDI): Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to visit Bangladesh on October 4, following a scheduled visit to Pakistan.

The final dates of the prime minister ’s visit are anticipated to be announced soon.

During his visit, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is likely to meet Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the interim government, as well as President Mohammad Shahabuddin.

The visit aims to bolster bilateral relations, particularly in areas of mutual cooperation, and is expected to positively impact the welfare of Bangladeshi migrant workers in Malaysia.

The anticipated visit follows a recent shift in Bangladesh’s political landscape.

On August 14, Prime Minister Anwar had personally reached out to Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus, expressing his desire for an early visit to Bangladesh and congratulating him on his new role.

Diplomatic circles view this visit as a continuation of Malaysia’s engagement with Bangladesh’s new interim administration.
