Kathmandu (TDI): Flooding and landslides in Nepal has left at least 66 people killed and 60 injured besides those 69 who are missing, officials said on Saturday.
The deadly flooding and landslides were caused by the persistent stormy rain a day earlier, local media reported.
All major roads in Kathmandu, the country’s capital, remained closed and the situation also disrupted domestic air travel.
According to Reuters most of the deaths took place in the Kathmandu Valley, accommodating four million people and having populated areas.

It is feared that the death toll could rise as intensity of the flooding was reported as dangerous and parts Kathmandu received 322.2 mm of rain.
Media reports covering rescue operations said that the Rescue workers used helicopters and rubber boats to help those people stranded in the flood and on rooftops.
Majority of the rivers in the country have swollen, spilling over roads and bridges, authorities told Reuters.

Police are reportedly working to clear debris and reopen roads after landslides blocked highways in different locations.
The earliest let-up in the rains might not come until Sunday, weather forecasting officials in Kathmandu have assessed.
Meanwhile, a report suggest that the Koshi River in the southeast, which causes deadly floods in India’s eastern state of Bihar almost every year, was running above the danger level at 450,000 cusecs and its level is continuously rising.
In Nepal every year hundreds of people lose lives and many face displacement in the monsoon season causing floods and landslides.
Floods in monsoon are always feared in the regional countries including India and Pakistan.
