China 29 august 2024 (TDI): China Assistant Chief of Staff of the People’s Armed Police Force (PAPF) Sun Xueyu, said that unmanned and artificial technologies were mandatory for strengthening the capabilities of counter-terrorism operations as it help in exactly locating terrorists.

Speaking at the four-day Great Wall-2024 International Forum on Counter-terrorism organized by China’s police force in Beijing in which China has displayed advanced unmanned technology for counter-terrorism, including intelligent drone swarms and bird-like ornithopters.

Over 170 delegates from than 50 similar foreign armed forces and 150 Chines representatives took part in the forum.

Senior Colonel Gao Yawei from Zhejiang Corps of PAPF following the emergence of artificial intelligence, the present trends of drone’s technology have changed from a signal drone to intelligent swarms.

He said that in 2022 China’s Zhejiang University had made an intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle capable of autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The flight duration of the drone is up to 12 to 14 minutes, and the speed is 10 to 15 meters per second.

The test fleet currently has 16 drones, more than 200, he said, adding that the vehicle can travel directly, avoid obstacles and navigate through difficult areas such as forests, urban areas and other harsh areas.

Gao said the main benefit of a drone swarm is that it can enter a narrow area and search for multiple targets in different areas simultaneously, resulting in rapid detection and instant location.
