‘Smart Policing’ New Approach To Implement In Islamabad Police Stations

-

Islamabad, 10 August 2024 (TDI): Interior Minister Naqvi stressed the necessity of abandoning “traditional” implementation practices for ‘Smart Policing’.

In an effort to modernize law enforcement in the nation’s capital, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the conversion of Islamabad’s police stations into “Smart Police Stations”.

In a Saturday progress assessment meeting on the improvement of police stations in Islamabad, Naqvi highlighted the necessity of shifting away from conventional policing approaches, portraying them as symbols of terror.

Senior officials including DIG Operations, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha attended the meeting.

Recalling his own travels to police stations and the appalling conditions he saw there, he realized that people frequently hesitate before contacting them.

Naqvi emphasized the need for smart policing to bring the capital up to par with other global cities, saying that Islamabad is the face of Pakistan.

He stated that every resource required for this shift will be available.

Naqvi also said that the Smart Police Stations will undergo a stepwise transformation and that courteous and knowledgeable officers would be stationed there.

He gave the team instructions to create designs for these stations that are both high-quality and reasonably priced, as well as to find suitable land for those that are already running in other buildings.

Naqvi did not elaborate on the specifics of how the switch to “smart” police stations will be carried out.

The interior minister went on to emphasize that only qualified, intelligent, and deserving applicants will be chosen for the Islamabad Police, and that merit would not be compromised in the hiring process.

Furthermore, he emphasized how critical it is that police conduct toward civilians be improved.
